  1. Registration and Payment: Once you have been invited to participate in an FCA Lacrosse international trip you will be sent a registration link and password through your email. At this point in time you will be required to complete the registration as well as an online waiver. You will also be given the option of either paying the full $1500 trip costs or paying a non-refundable $300 deposit. If you choose the later you will be given multiple payment options or may also choose to fundraise the remaining $1200 balance.

  2. Passport: You must have a valid US Passport to enter Nicaragua. If you do not have a US Passport you must apply for one immediately by going to the US Department of State Passport Site. Processing times can take be lengthy and if the process is rushed will be frustrating. If you already have an American passport it must be valid for more than 90 days past our returning departure date (August 1st, 2013). The trip participant is responsible for passport costs, processing fees, and will be personally responsible for keeping track of the passport while abroad.

  3. Book Flight: The sooner you are able to book your flight the better as the prices will increase as we draw closer to the departure dates. Please see the Nicaragua Travel page for booking instructions.

  4. Submit Flight Confirmation: Once your flight has been booked you will be required to submit your flight plans from Baltimore to Managua and your return flight from Managua to your respective home. This will be done through the Int'l Travel Form. If you are also flying to Baltimore prior to the trip be sure to submit your flight info on a separate form.

  5. Visa: Make sure your passport has 2 full blank pages in the back. If it does, great! If it does not you will need to add pages. Also, be sure to have proof of round-trip airfare on your person. U.S. citizen visitors must have an onward or return ticket and evidence of sufficient funds to support themselves during their stay. U.S. citizens do not need a visa; however, a tourist card must be purchased for $10-$15 upon arrival.

  6. Shots/Pills: No shots are required for entry into Nicaragua. However we suggest that you are up to date on all normal shots required by most colleges and universities. (Most colleges require measles, mumps and rubella varicella (MMR), hepatitis A and B, and a tetanus booster, which is  necessary only if it's been 10 years since your last shot.) If you are concerned, feel free to also get pills or shots for Malaria and Typhoid. Again, these shots are not required but suggested. Also feel free to bring Imodium.

  7. Payment Deadline: FCA will be transferring the total cost of the trip to Lacrosse the Nations on May 1st, 2014. All trip team member fundraising and or payments must be fully submitted by that time or before. Failure to do so will result in dismissal from the team.

  8. Pack for Trip: A complete packing list will be distributed prior to departure, but pack comfortable, modest, cool clothing for a lot of running around and playing in the hot Nicaraguan weather!

  9. To Bring or Not to Bring: Even though we take every precaution, we have had belongings wander off on trips. We ask you to leave valuables at home. There are safes in the room for your passports and money, but its not big enough to fit a laptop and we suggest you leave your cell phones in the safe during the day. Your trip leaders will have personal computers with them in case of emergencies.

  10. Depart for Baltimore: Let the adventure begin...
